Sugar Valley Rally Day 2

On Friday we had a class where they showed us how to read the instruction packets they give us each day of the rally. The instructions for the rally look confusing when you first see them. The instruction sheets has 5 columns; The instruction number, a sign, a diagram with an arrow and a rectangle the orientation the sign is to the car, a speed, and then other important information such as the sign or turn comes quickly after the previous instruction. After the quick class they served us Runzas for lunch(yummy!). The rally on Friday was just a practice rally or stage 0. The rally started at 1pm and since we were car #18 we left at 1:18pm. They started us 1 minute apart since this is a rally where you try to get get a time as close to the actual times set by the rally committee, not the first one past the finish line. We started by the WNCC Technology center in Scottsbluff and were in transit for about 15 min to highway 92 outside of town. We than had to wait until our designated time of 1:48pm to start our timed leg. Once we started the timed leg we made our way doing a top speed of 45 mph until we came to a speed limit sign or mile marker which told us to slow down to another speed like 42 mph for 2 min and 20 sec and then continue at 45 mph or something like that. we did that all the way to our first checkpoint and pit stop in Bridgeport Ne. We were in Bridgeport for about 30 mins and then headed south through town on to highway 88 to Harrisburg Ne. We did a quick loop through Harrisburg and then continued up Highway 71 to Gering and ended at the YMCA Trails camp by Riverside Zoo. We ended up doing 114 miles on Friday and were only a few seconds behind for the practice rally and had no breakdowns.
